To the Tired Mom

To the tired mom: We feel you. We're tired too.

To the tired mom who just had a baby and you wonder when your family and friends will meet your new precious bundle. You are exhausted, weary, confused, and overwhelmed. Overjoyed by your sweet child while simultaneously mourning your old life, feeling trapped by your inability to socialize normally: Be still and know.

To the tired mom who has littles home all the time and you feel like you’ve been stuck in your house for months on end and are one meltdown away from losing your mind: Be still and know.

To the tired mom who just finished distance learning and is panicked thinking about how school will open in the fall. You cannot fathom a year of distance learning and balancing a job and managing a home: Be still and know.

To the tired mom with a recent graduate who missed out on so many big and important moments. You wonder if your child will be able to have a normal freshman experience in the dorms and on campus. You wonder if your child will be able to find a job: Be still and know.

To the tired mom who is raising a child of color. You wonder what type of world your child will grow up in. You fear for their safety and you grow frustrated with our current climate. You know that they, too, could be George Floyd. You know that this is the battle they face: Be still and know.

To the tired mom who is watching their child walk into protests, stand up for their beliefs, and fight for the candidates they love. You are scared and proud and everything in between. You watch your child fight for justice and peace, but pray that they return home safely: Be still and know.

To the tired mom who is watching her adult child be a tired mom. She is navigating everything this year has brought to us while trying her best to raise children of her own. You walk the line between advice and support and giving independence, and it can be a painful dance: Be still and know.

To the tired mom who wonders if the world will ever be the same: Be still and know.

To the tired mom: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” -Exodus 14:14
