Why Raising Prayerful Kids Matters
Updated: Aug 20, 2018
Hi! Welcome to Raising Prayerful Kids. We are Steph and Sarah, you can read more about us here, but we are so glad you found us! We are launching this ministry because we are passionate about helping parents teach their kids to pray.
Our purpose here is to equip parents with the tools to intentionally teach their children to pray creatively and actively. Throughout our journey you will learn the benefits of creative prayer and the role it can play in growing your family's faith. The prayer activities we will share are fun and connecting, and we hope that you and your children will experience God's presence in a new and unique way.
There are three different categories of prayer exercises posted here: Prayer Games, Focused Prayers, and Contemplative Prayers. They move from "easiest" to "hardest" if you will. Each exercise will invite you and your kids to communicate with God in ways you may not have thought of before.
Prayer Games are fun, easy, and require little time or preparation.
Focused Prayers take a little more intentionality and time, but they are still really approachable and easy.
Contemplative Prayers dive deeper into prayer and require time, practice, and patience from parents and kids.
The idea is that anyone, no matter where you are in your faith journey, can find something here. If you're brand new to prayer or not comfortable praying out loud, try a Prayer Game. If you are looking for something new to try with your kids, try a Focused Prayer. And if you feel like you want to help your child experience God in a new and meaningful way, try a Contemplative Prayer together. We hope that you find this encouraging and that it makes praying with your kids a little easier, less stressful, and more fun for your family.
We hope that you stay awhile and look around. Stay tuned for more exercises and ideas, and let us know what you try with your family. We can't wait to hear your thoughts!
