5 Verses for when you feel Unequipped
But Moses said to God,"who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?" And God said, "I will be with you."
The story of God calling Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt is one of my absolute favorites and our pastor recently preached on it at church. I love it because it's such a relatable story. Have you ever felt like God put you in a position that was way over your head?
Who am I that I should lead a ministry?
Who am I that I should manage this team of people?
Who am I that I should have this job?
Who am I that I should parent these kids?
Who am I?
You are God's child and He goes before you in everything that you do.
You don't need to be afraid because God will give you the words. He will give you the courage. He will give you the heart. He will show you the steps. Our God is a God who calls us and when we answer that call He equips us and guides us. Our God is faithful and true. But that doesn't change the fact that sometimes we get stuck in the, "who am I?" mentality. Can I get an AMEN?
We have compiled five of our favorite verses that we use when we feel unqualified, overwhelmed, or need assurance of God's faithfulness in our calling. Print these out and tape them to your bathroom mirror, pray them for yourself, and memorize them. Encourage your kids to pray them too. It's never too early to start teaching our kids that God equips them and goes before them.
The Lord Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
I can do all through Christ who strengthens me.
The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.
For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.
