During the month of July we are praying that our kids would be peacemakers. God planned each and every one of our kids to be raised by us in such a time as this. It is no accident that your kids are kids right now! You are doing the big, noble, holy work of raising little disciples…raising peacemakers!

Today we want to share some of our favorite resources for raising little peacemakers.

Colorfull, Thoughtfull, and Gracefull

by Dorena Williamson

I love these books! They are beautifully illustrated children’s books that encourage children to embrace and celebrate differences. These books are so great because they model empathy, grace, and love to all types of people…different races, differently abled, or different socio-economic statuses. And I really love how Dorena Williamson does so in such approachable ways. We can and should start to teach our kids these things when they are young! Teaching our kids to love others like Jesus does is the best way we can raise little peacemakers. Click the images below to learn more and purchase!

Triggers

by Amber Lia and Wendy Speake

This is a parenting book, and goodness, it’s a good one. I’ve never been much of a yeller and always considered myself to be patience….until I wasn’t. The busy-ness of the past two years has really shortened my fuse and I found myself yelling more, groaning more, and being generally unpleasant. Enter Triggers! This book is relatable and practical! It’s been such a game changer for me.

Each chapter examines common parenting issues that sometimes can make us act inappropriately at our children (aka yelling and groaning!). But this book moves beyond simple parenting tips on how to change your child’s behavior, instead the authors offer biblical insight and practical tools to equip and encourage you on the journey away from anger-filled reactions toward gentle, biblical responses. After all, the best way to raise peacemakers is to provide a peaceful home and model peaceful behavior!
